1961 Linemar, Mechanical Dino The Dinosaur From The Flintstones in Original Box

1961 Linemar, Mechanical Dino The Dinosaur From The Flintstones in Original Box

Awesome clockwork tin litho, wind-up toy based on the popular Flintstones television show. Fantastic high grade excellent+ to near mint condition complete with separate key and its original box.

Wind Dino up a few turns, move the lever on his back to the start position, and his legs begin to move in alternate directions. One moves forward, the other back, then the other moves forward again. The result is a slow, methodic, side to side lumbering movement. Occasionally Dino's drops his lower jaw and a low grinding growl sound is produced. The jaw closes while the legs continue to move forward. The cycle repeats as his growl begins again.

Although the popularity of the show seems to have waned and attention towards some of the toys appears slightly diminished, the demand for Dino toys has increased. Possibly because of his "dinosaur" status, but more likely it's because fewer Dino character toys were produced. Boxed examples of Linemar's clockwork Dino like this one are very difficult to find.

The original box was illustrated in color in the Hanna-Barbera style. It shows Fred, Barney, and Dino standing next to each other looking happy and friendly. The side panels feature illustrations of Dino by himself "barking" and posing.

Size: 9¼" long. 6" tall.
